The main stages of bicycle excursions in the North of Sardinia:

  • Stage 1: from Badesi you cycle as far as the Country Chapel of San Pietro di Ruda, which takes its name from the wealthy local landowner who had it built in 1803 near Aggius and the Valla della Luna (a crossroads for other cycle routes in the North of Sardinia).
  • Stage 2: following the valley below for about 6 km, you turn left for a climb of 400 metres which takes you toMonte Pulchiana, the largest monolith in Sardinia which rises majestically over the surrounding landscape and which is the only one of its kind in the whole island. A wild place in Gallura, which should be seen for its geological and naturalistic features.
  • Stage 3: crossing the valley, an enjoyable descent starts featuring fast and exciting bends heading down to the sea. Among woods of oak and cork oak trees you arrive at the little hamlet of Crisciuleddu.
  • Stage 4: from Crisciuleddu you take the steep ascent which leads, after about 2 km, to the village of Luogosanto. Here cyclists can enjoy a refreshment stop and take advantage of the break to visit the characteristic narrow streets of this typical small Gallura town.

The Hermitage of San Trano is of significant interest, a deeply spiritual setting thanks to its solitary position among the granite rocks facing a suggestive panorama that includes the sea and the coast of Corsica.
A route of medium difficulty with few uphill stretches, made special by a visit to the village of Luogosanto and the visit to Monte Pulchiana. A breathtaking landscape, adorned by the colours and scents of the Mediterranean vegetation, between cork forests and the granite sculptures that dominate the valleys.

Once supplied with water and windbreaker, it’s time to set off from Badesi to discover the cycling routes of Gallura. On your return, Le Sabine, the Wellness Centre at the Resort Le Dune, is the perfect place to relax muscles that have been worn out by all that cycling.
